Meet the Team

The coconut doesn't fall far from the palm! We are a father-daughter business based in Honolulu, Hawaii. Steve Nimz, chief arborist, has been caring for trees in Hawaii since the 1970s and has pioneered the way for implementing modern arboriculture practices for Hawaii's tropical trees. Steve has been recognized locally and beyond for his dedication to preserving trees and proper tree care. Steve has received numerous awards including recognition from the International Society of Arboriculture as a True Professional of Arboriculture.

Steve's daughter Ilana followed his path of arboriculture, with a twist. Trained as a marine scientist that specializes in seabirds, Ilana combines her passion for wildlife with tree care.

Our small family business is dedicated to preserving trees in Hawaii and promoting proper arboricultural practices to maintain a safe and beautiful environment. Our team of dedicated professionals can find solutions for your tree needs on all islands in Hawaii.

Steve Nimz
Chief Consulting Arborist
Steve has over 50 years of experience in the Hawaii tree care industry. He has initiated and served as president of Aloha Arborist Association and Landscape Industry Council of Hawaii, and has received several ISA awards.

Ilana Nimz, MSc.
Arborist, Wildlife Biologist
Ilana is an ISA Certified Arborist & Tree Worker and wildlife biologist specializing in avian species. Ilana's Master's degree focused on Hawaiian seabirds. Ilana is also an ASCA Registered Consulting Arborist (RCA).

David Golden
Arborist, Wildlife Biologist
David is the technology specialist and tree care technician for trunk and soil injections. He is an ISA Certified Arborist, LICT and a wildlife biologist. David serves as Treasurer for the Landscape Industry Council of Hawaii.

Kesha Teranishi
Office Manager
Kesha is the voice you hear on the phone! She coordinates the administrative side of the company and manages the emails.

Bonnie Dietrich, MSc.
Entomologist
Bonnie runs our plant health lab. She has a Master's from UH Manoa and worked for HI Department of Agriculture where she studied and identified insect pests.

Waylen Rodrigues
Crane Operator, Tree Transplant Expert
Waylen has over 20 years of experience operating cranes and tree spades in Hawaii.

Tree Solutions Mascots

Mr. Kinako is Kesha's right hand man. He diligently
collects the mail and guards the Tree Solutions office.

Rooni is a certified tree climber and bird observer. She
is a helpful paper shredder in Ilana and David's office
